On November 7th, 2015, #4 middleweight Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort (24-11-0) will go toe-to-toe with #12 middleweight Dan “Hendo” Henderson (31-13-0) for the third time. The fighters first met on Oct 21, 2006 at Pride 32: The Real Deal. That fight was won by Henderson via 3rd round decision. On Nov 9, 2013 in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs Belfort, Vitor Belfort took this one in the first round by KO. It would be KO of the night.
Belfort hasn’t loss a non-title fight since that first fight with “Hendo”. He has fought in 13 fights with 10 wins and three losses. He lost to Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, and Chris Weidman, all in championship contests. The fight against Weidman was his most recent defeat which gave him a 6-month break prior to this fight. With 5 post-fight awards (all KO of the night) to his name, Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort will be looking to win this rubber match with another knockout.
On the other hand, the ageless one, Dan “Hendo” Henderson. The 45 year-old veteran is known well for his vicious right hand. A right hand that has left many men unconscious throughout the years. If the fight stays standing, watch the hand, but if it goes to the canvas, watch Henderson’s Greco-Roman wrestling. Henderson won his last fight in June 2015 versus Tim Boetsch by TKO/KO. Again, Dan should be searching for a knockout win.
If I were to make a prediction for this fight, I would have to say Vitor Belfort by decision. Never count “Hendo” out though, but I think Belfort can avoid the punch and take Dan down. Henderson has lost 4 of his 13 losses by submission which could be used against him. The fight will no doubt be a good one between to veteran of MMA.
