In the co-main event, #6 Gegard Mousasi takes on Uriah Hall in a middleweight battle. Mousasi, 35-5-2, has been around the park a couple of times, going toe-to-toe with the likes of Dan Henderson, Costas Philippou, and Mark Munoz. At the age of 30, this Iran native is looking to fight is way to a middleweight title fight.
In his opposing corner, the runner-up of The Ultimate Fighter 17 finale, Uriah Hall. Uriah (12-5-0) hasn’t quite broke the top 15 rankings in the division, however, Uriah has gone 4-2 ever since his loss in TUF 17 finale putting up 3 finishes. If Hall can defeat a game Mousasi, look for him to pop up in the middleweight picture.
Finally, the main event of UFC Fight Night Japan, #8 Josh “The Warmaster” Barnett battles #11 Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Barnett, 33-7-0, has won 3 of his last 5 and 8 of his last 10 bouts, only 2 have been in the UFC. After fighting over many different organizations including Pride, StrikeForce, and Affliction, “The Warmaster” has now found his home in the UFC, beating Frank Mir, and losing to Travis Browne.
The man standing across from him, is all 263lbs of Roy Nelson. Nelson, (21-11-0) hasn’t done the greatest in his MMA career. Roy has lost four of his previous five contests, coming victorious over Big Nog. If “Big Country” beats Barnett, it could signify a change of himself.
I recommend that everyone tunes into this card, it should be interesting.
