UFC 191 concluded last night and it is now time for my UFC 191 results and what I thought about the fights. I also shared my predictions for the main card last Monday. We will see how my predictions turned out. For that article on my predictions, CLICK HERE.
~P. VanZant def A. Chambers via SUB. Paige VanZant took on Australia’s own, Alex Chambers. VanZant used excellent clinch techniques especially knees to the body. After a takedown on Chambers put VanZant in full mount, Paige cranked on a beautiful armbar to win the fight. My Prediction: I thought VanZant would win in a decision.
~C. Anderson def J. Blachowicz via UD (30-25, 30-25, 29-28). Corey Anderson used brilliant wrestling and ground and pound to dominate the fight and pick up the ‘W”. My Prediction: I imagined Corey Anderson winning by KO.
~A. Johnson def J. Manuwa via KO. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson took down Manuwa in the opening round and was just basically holding him there until the ending bell. Then, just :29 seconds into the middle round, “Rumble” nailed Manuwa then followed up with a couple massive ground strikes to walk away with his 21st victory. My Prediction: Anthony Johnson would win by SD.
~A. Arlovski def F. Mir via UD (30-29, 29-28, 29-28). Coming into this co-main event, everyone was preparing themselves for a stunning Heavyweight knockout. Well, that is the last thing fans witnessed on Saturday night. A surprising thing that I noticed is that Frank Mir had a beer gut. He weighed in at 266lbs, which is the maximum for a Heavyweight. It was a battle of two exhausted, slow, and aging fighters who basically fought in the clinch and just the clinch. Nothing special happened during the fight and was quite boring in my books. My Prediction: Frank Mir would come out with a win.
~D. Johnson def J. Dodson via UD (50-45, 49-46, 49-46). Finally, in the main event of the evening, a rivalry between Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson turned the page to chapter two. “Mighty Mouse”, again, dominated in every round to come out with an easy win. In my personal opinion, Dodson looked more impressive in their first fight and one odd thing for Dodson, was while he was walking to the octagon, there was no smile gracing his face. Something you don’t see too often. My Prediction: Demetrious Johnson would win via UD.
